A downloadable Prototype
The Data Oriented Tech Stack (DOTS) is at time of writing Unity's biggest promise. They are turning their whole system inside out to make it Data Oriented.
If you are not a techie, allow me to translate: DOTS is 40 to 100 times faster, for free, always. So naturally, everyone wants in.
Now, Unity is working hard and doing overtime to have this new system go uninterupted for everyone working with Unity. Everyone, that is, except the programmers. Because in order for the Data Oriented system to work, you need to program in a Data Oriented way.
This project is one where I try to learn how to do just that. I dive into the ins and outs, steal projects (learning involves a lot of stealing), and weave my way into this intricate new method of programming.
